Wife in Hammer Attack Dies; Charges Against Husband May Be Upgraded
 Charges may be upgraded against a Hebron man whose wife died two weeks after he allegedly beat her with a hammer.
Troopers say Francoise Genesse died Wednesday night at Hartford Hospital and her death has been ruled a homicide.
Her husband, 85-year-old Clermont Genesse, is being held on a-million-dollar bond, charged with attempted murder and assault.

Federal $$ to Front Street Project
Hartford's "Front Street " Development has been awarded a two million dollar federal grant and a five million dollar loan by the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development. A spokesman for Congressman John Larson says the money ispart of the "Brownfields Economic Development Initiative."

53 Year-Old Connecticut Archer Qualifies for Fifth Olympics
 Butch Johnson is headed to the Olympics for the fifth time. Khatuna Lorig will represent her third country.     Johnson lives in Woodstock, Connecticut.  Johnson and Lorig are two of the five archers who will represent the United States in Beijing this summer.
Washington Husky to Become UConn Husky
 University of Washington center Jessica McCormack says she's transfering to the University of Connecticut.  The 6-foot-5 freshman, who is currently playing for the New Zealand national team, tells the Hartford Courant that she has accepted a scholarship offer from UConn and is excited about her future with the team.

Red Sox Talk About a New Ball Park (for Spring Training)
The Boston Red Sox have spoken with officials in Sarasota, Fla., about relocating their spring training home from Fort Myers to the facility that will become vacant when the Cincinnati Reds move to Arizona in two years.  Red Sox spokesman John Blake called the talks preliminary.

Big East Particpant in New Bowl Game
A new bowl game is launching in the upcoming football season. The conference announced Wednesday that the NCAA has certified the "St. Petersburg Bowl" to be played at Tropicana Field, with Big East and Conference USA participants. The gamewould be played between December 20th and 23rd.

UConn Women to Face Rutgers Twice Again in 2008-2009
The University of Connecticut women's basketball team will play Rutgers twice again in the 2008-2009 season. The Big East today announced the home and away league schedule, with each team playing 16 conference games -- eight at home, and eight away.   Besides the Rutgers home game, the Huskies have home games against DePaul, Louisville, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Seton Hall, Syracuse, and Villanova.
Huskies' Kelly to Transfer for More Playing Time
 Connecticut forward Curtis Kelly is transferring in hopes of earning more playing time at another school.
The sophomore is speaking to other schools and has yet to decide where he will go, UConn announced Tuesday.

Violinist Joshua Bell to Open Hartford Symphony Orchestra Season
The Hartford Symphony Orchestra opens its 65th season September 24 with a guest appearance by world-renowned violinist Joshua Bell. The program will include Tchaikovsky's Concerto in D major for Violin and Orchestra. Also on the program will be Dvorak’s Carnival Overture, Rossini’s Overture to La scala di seta, and Rouse’s Rapture.
