A's Defeat Red Sox in Game 2 in Tokyo

TOKYO (AP) _ The Red Sox settle for a split of their two
season-opening games with the Oakland Athletics in Japan.
Emil Brown's three-run homer off Boston starter Jon Lester
lifted the A's to a 5-1 victory at the Tokyo Dome today.
Red Sox batters struck out 13 times against Oakland pitching,
with Manny Ramirez accounting for the only Boston run with a solo
homer off A's starter and winner Rich Harden in the sixth. Ramirez
also struck out three times.
Brown's homer helped make up for a costly baserunning error in
Boston's 6-5 win in yesterday's season opener, which cost Oakland a
chance to tie that game in the bottom of the tenth.
Lester gave up four runs, five hits and three walks in four
innings.
The teams lined up along the first and third base lines after
the game to shake hands and thank the Japanese fans.
After playing two games that count in the standings, the Red Sox
will now return to the U.S. to play three exhibition games against
the Dodgers in Los Angeles. The regular season will resume next
Tuesday with two more games against the A's in Oakland.
