AG Says Bysiewicz's Qualifications Still Unclear

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal says the question of whether Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz is qualified to run for his job needs to be answered by the courts or the legislature.
Blumenthal said the law requiring candidates for attorney general to have practiced law for 10 years in the state needs clarification about what it actually means to be practicing law.
Blumenthal stopped short of saying whether he believes his fellow Democratic is qualified.
Bysiewicz has six years of experience as a practicing lawyer, and her campaign has said the years she spent supervising attorneys as the secretary of state should count.
Bysiewicz asked Blumenthal for the opinion after a Democratic blogger raised questions about her qualifications.
