NEW YORK (AP) - A Manhattan auction of Yankees memorabilia will include a Whitey Ford baseball signed by President John F. Kennedy.
Thurman Munson's 1978 World Series captain's trophy also will be part of the sale, being held Monday and Tuesday by Hunt Auctions. The auction is pegged to next week's final All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium.
Other highlights include the warm-up jacket Lou Gehrig wore on May 2, 1939, the day he ended his streak of 2,120 consecutive games played. The presale estimate is at least $250,000.
Ford's JFK autographed baseball is expected to sell for $30,000 to $40,000. Munson's 24-inch trophy and its custom-made carrying case could fetch $100,000. Munson was named captain of the team in 1976.
