Baltic Man Charged with Attempted Murder
|
A man from the Baltic section of Sprague was held on $500,000 bond, charged with attempted murder and other offenses following a domestic dispute Tuesday night.
State Police say they were called to a disturbance at 13 School Hill Road, Apt. C around 11:30 p.m. to fine William Porucznik, 21, seated on the floor with a large kitchen knife to his own throat, threatening to kill himself. Police ordered him to drop the knife, he did so, and was handcuffed, said authorities.
In the same room, police say they found Generasett Irizarry, 25, holding their 15-month-old child and suffering from a stab wound to her upper back and an abrasion to her neck. She was taken to Backus Hospital in Norwich.
Police say Porucznik lured Irizarry back into the dwelling by sending a text message claiming that their child was ill and then attacked her with a knife when she arrived. Half of the knife was recovered at the scene. The other part of the knife was found lodged in the victim, who was later taken to Rhode Island Hospital for surgery, said police.
Porucznik is charged with attempted murder, risk of injury to a minor, reckless endangerment, breach of peace, said police. He was due in Norwich Superior Court Wednesday.
