Blumenthal Asks for Information on Aetna Layoffs
|
Attorney General Richard Blumenthal is asking Aetna for information about the insurance company's plans to lay off 625 employees. 160 of those layoffs will come in Connecticut, and Blumenthal says he's received complaints that the company plans to pay those it lays off half of their accrued paid-leave time. He says that may be a violation of state law, which generally requires that laid off employees receive payment in the form of wages for all accrued leave time and other fringe benefits upon termination of employment, consistent with company policy or collective bargaining agreements.
He's asking for details of the company's plans for compensation of those being laid off.
