Bomb Squad Called to Downtown Hartford

A suspicious package brought the bomb squad to downtown Hartford Thursday afternoon.

City officials say 550 Main Street, in front of Hartford City Hall, was blocked off to vehicle and pedestrian traffic. A package was found in a mailbox outside of the building, said Mayor Eddie Perez.

Nonessential city workers were dismissed from the building.

People were allowed back into City Hall shortly before 5:30 p.m. and the scene was in the process of clearing.
