Connecticut Families Can Apply for Heating Aid

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut families who need help paying their heating bills this winter are being urged to apply now for assistance.
Nearly 33,000 applications have already been received this fall. About 18,000 households have been approved for basic benefits up to $880. Eligible families can begin receiving their fuel deliveries on Nov. 2.
Gov. M. Jodi Rell estimates 112,700 households in Connecticut will receive home-heating aid this winter. That's up from the record 107,500 households last year.
Connecticut expects to spend $108.4 million in federal money on heating assistance.
For more information, families should call Infoline at 2-1-1 or contact their local community action agency. The program has income eligibility requirements.
