Dealers To Rally In Atlantic City For Contracts With Casinos

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) - Some unionized gambling table dealers from Connecticut are expected to join others from several states in a weekend rally in Atlantic City.
Hundreds of dealers from Atlantic City and around the nation are expected to attend a large rally tomorrow in support of newly unionized casino workers.
So far the newly unionized workers have gotten nowhere in talks with the gambling halls on what would be the resort's first union contract for dealers.
Since the United Auto Workers started a major push to unionize dealers at all 11 Atlantic City casinos 15 months ago, it won representation elections at four casinos.
The UAW win a union election for dealers at the Foxwoods Resort Casino last November, but the Mashantucket Pequots, the casino owners, are fighting the union vote.
