SHELTON, Conn. (AP)_ Shelton police say a former city police officer is accused of acting as a lookout while on duty as a friend stole some large equipment.
Police say 26-year-old Thomas Chickos, who was a probationary officer at the time, is charged with aiding and abetting larceny and making a false statement.
Police say cell phone records linked Chickos to the man accused of the thefts, 28-year-old Jason Dennis. Dennis has pleaded guilty to first-degree larceny in the May 2007 thefts.
Chickos, who surrendered Monday night, was still a probationary officer when he resigned in June 2007 before an internal affairs investigation.
Chickos is free after posting $5,000 bail.
