Greetings from Tampa !!

The Huskies have been busy since arriving Thursday to the Gold Coast. They've been busy running around from event to event. Finally today they can focus on basketball and Stanford in the first of two National Semi-Final Games at the St. Pete Times Forum. The Cardinal playing extremely well coming in, not having lossed since back to back road games at USC & UCLA in early. Why ? Becasuse the young players around Candice Wiggins are playing much better. Wiggins is the Senior and then they start 3 sophomores and a freshman.

Jayne Appel and Kayla Pederson (both 6-4) are dangerous in the post. Pederson is 4-4 from 3 pt range in the Tournament. And they pass the ball well. Averaging 5 assists per game between the two. Pederson had 7a's v Maryland. But Wiggins is still the key. She's scored 40+ in 2 NCAA Games already. But will be tested by UConn's Defense. Which by the way is #1 in FG% defense and #3 in scoring defense. And while Renee Montgomery will most likely get the assignment on Wiggins, her teammates are there to help.

And in the first meeting in St. Thomas, the UConn Bigs ran Stanford's Big's ragged. Jayne Appel was in Kara's words "Sucking Wind" by mid 2nd Half. How it plays out and who steps up tonight for both teams ?? That's why they play the games. Joe D' hosts a Sportstalk Special after the Sox-Jays. Then at 5pm, we'll look back at the the Women's Road to Tampa. Meg & I have the game Broadcast at 6:30...Hope you can join us
