Hartford Man Sentenced For Running Heroin Ring

HARTFOFD, Conn. (AP) - A Hartford man accused of helping run what federal authorities say was the largest heroin network in Connecticut has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Thirty-six-year-old Jose Juan Cancel was sentenced Monday in Hartford federal court. He was also fined $2 million.
Prosecutor say Cancel was second in command of the narcotics ring run by his brother, 34-year-old Felix J. Cancel Jr. The brother was sentenced to 20 years in prison in May for his part in the ring.
Federal investigation say the Cancel brothers bought bulk heroin in New York, packaged and diluted it in ``heroin mills'' in Hartford, and distributed it through a network that reached into Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
