NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) _ A prison inmate and convicted killer has pleaded not guilty to charges of trying to kill two guards at the Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Center in Uncasville.
Twenty-five-year-old Bobby Beale is facing several charges including attempted murder and possession of a weapon in a correctional institution.
Beale is accused of repeatedly stabbing one correction officer in the back of his head, neck and face on July 9. Officials say a second officer intervened and struggled with Beale for a short time as Beale attempted to stab him as well.
Beale made his plea in a brief appearance in New London Superior Court Tuesday.
Beale was sentenced in 2004 to 37 years for felony murder. He was one of three men convicted in the robbery and shooting of a 22-year-old man in his Bethel home in October 2002.
