HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ While state lawmakers say they want to reach a compromise on revoking pensions of corrupted politicians, they can't seem to agree on who should be speaking to the media on the subject.
Reps. Christopher Caruso and Diana Urban, who support a version that creates different rules for elected officials and government employees, say they're miffed that Sen. Edward Meyer, a fellow Democrat, crashed their news conference Thursday to give his point of view.
Meyer, who wants the same standards for both elected officials and government workers, showed up as the lawmakers were wrapping up a news briefing at the Legislative Office Building. Even though Caruso told him he couldn't speak, Meyer approached the podium _ infuriating Caruso and Urban, who loudly complained to one another while watching from the sidelines.
Caruso is calling Meyer's actions ``bush-league.''
Meyer was unapologetic, saying their proposal is bad for the state.
