Man Arraigned in Hartford Cop Shooting

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A Hartford man accused of shooting a city police officer made a brief court appearance to be arraigned on attempted murder and assault charges.
Twenty-six-year-old Dwayne Powell didn't say anything in Hartford Superior Court on Thursday. A judge set bond at $3.5 million.
More than a dozen of Powell's friends went to the arraignment. Afterward, they criticized police and vowed to post his bail.
Powell is accused of shooting Officer Michael Bodner in the arm and leg early Wednesday morning while trying to flee from the officer, who had attempted to question him about a series of burglaries.
Police Chief Daryl Roberts said another officer shot at Powell but missed before officers took Powell into custody.
Roberts said Bodner is now at home recovering.
