Man Charged with Stabbing Woman Repeatedly

LEDYARD, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut state police have charged a Ledyard man with attempted murder on allegations he repeatedly stabbed a woman at the home they share.
Forty-eight-year-old Jeffrey Asbill was also charged with first-degree assault and ordered held in lieu of $500,000 bail pending arraignment in New London Superior Court on Tuesday.
Police say they were called to the home on Brewster Drive Monday morning and found the woman at the top of a staircase in a large pool of blood with Asbill standing over her. State police say the woman told officers Asbill stabbed her.
Her name was not released. She is being treated for multiple stab wounds at William Backus Hospital in Norwich.
It wasn't clear Tuesday morning if Asbill had an attorney.
