Meriden Police Make Arrest in Fatal Stabbing

MERIDEN, Conn. (AP) _ Meriden police say they have charged a 48-year-old man with murder in the stabbing death of another man during a fight that broke out at an apartment party.

Authorities are holding Jose Alvarado on a $1 million bond in the killing of 27-year-old Seven Hawks Galler, who was stabbed several times at the North Third Street apartment building Friday night. Alvarado is set to be arraigned Monday at Meriden Superior Court.

Police say they found Alvarado bleeding from a head wound on a stairway of the building. He was treated at Hartford Hospital and brought to the police station.

Galler died from the stab wounds at MidState Medical Center in Meriden.

Police say the two men were among several people at the party. Officers were called to the building to break up a fight.
