NAUGATUCK, Conn. (AP) _ A Connecticut woman has been arrested after police say she left her 9-year-old son home alone while she went to work and he showed up at a neighbor's with gasoline spilled on himself.
Thirty-one-year-old Laura Behlman of Naugatuck was charged Thursday with risk of injury to a minor, a felony that carries up to 10 years in prison upon conviction. She was released on a promise to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Friday.
Police say that after Behlman went to work, her son played with gasoline and spilled some on himself. Police say the boy woke up a neighbor at about 6:45 a.m. Thursday.
Behlman didn't answer her cell phone Friday.
Police say state child welfare officials are investigating.
