NO FOOTBALL... NO TIME OFF!!

THURSDAY: The UConn football team has its second and final bye week of the season, they get back to game prep for Notre Dame on Sunday.
But, that doesn't mean an idle wekend for anyone since the regular season for Husky Hoops (men and women) begins Friday night at Gampel when the men face William and Mary.
What did we learn in the two exhibition games. We learned that Jerome Dyson, Kemba Walker and Stanley Robinson should be three of the best players in the Big East this season. We learned that Alex Oriakhi has the potential to be a double-double machine. We learned that Gavin Edwards should step into a starting job for the first time and continue the improvement he has shown each year of his career. And we learned that Jamaal Trice and Darius Smith will get the chance to be contributors from the start of their freshman season.
We also learned that depth up front will be a factor until Ater Majook becomes eligible after the first semester ends. Oriakhi and Edwards MUST stay out of foul trouble especially in the potential high profile games in NYC and Kentucky.
The Huskies must also learn to take better care of the basketball.
To me, the #12/#14 ranking this early in the season is a little high. By the end of the year, UConn could be much higher than that, but not yet. I think their running style will give them a big edge once all the parts are in place.
Pre game from Gampel is 7 on Friday Night. And you can chip in with your opinions on Husky Talk after the game.
Enjoy the hoop season!
