Operation Fuel Awaiting Authorization of State Funding

Operation Fuel, the program which helps people unable to pay their fuel bills, has some cash-flow problems of its own this winter. Executive Director Patricia Wrice told local fuel bank directors and utility company representatives that, though the program kicks off in two weeks, it still does not have final approval from the state Office of Policy and Management for $4.75 million allocated by the legislature. Wrice says she hopes to raise at least $1.7 million in private donations this winter.
