Power Outage Closes Canton Schools Early

A power outage cut electricity to over half the town of Canton late Thursday morning. As as result, schools in town were dismissing early.

First Selectman Richard Barlow says it was caused by a problem at a Connecticut Light and Power substation on Morgan Road.

As of 11:05 a.m. Thursday, the utility's website reported that 2,779 homes and businesses were without electricity. Power was restored to all customers by 11:45 a.m., said a CL&P spokesman.
