Probation For Teacher-Student Sex In Glastonbury

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A state judge has sentenced a former teacher to two years of probation for having sex with a Glastonbury High School student.
Thirty-one-year-old Zachary Loavenbruck, formerly of Coventry, was convicted of coercion Monday as part of a plea deal. Court documents say he now lives in Boston.
Even though the sex was consensual and the girl was 18 years old at the time, state law prohibits such relations between teachers and students.
Hartford Superior Court Judge David Gold's sentence also calls for up to one year in prison if Loavenbruck violates the terms of his probation.
Loavenbruck resigned his teacher's job in August 2006. Police say the student's ex-boyfriend accessed her e-mails and found out about the relationship.
