Rebates Available for Energy Efficient Appliance Purchases
Starting Monday, and running through at least the end of April, Connecticut consumers who buy certain energy-efficient appliances will be able to apply for rebates under a Department of Energy program using federal stimulus funds. Rebates for "Energy Star" appliances range from $50 dollars for refrigerators, freezers or room air conditioners to $500 for central air conditioning units. The program is being run by the state Office of Policy and Management. Each Connecticut residence is permitted one rebate per replaced qualified appliance. Rebate information and forms are available at the state's website, or by calling 1-877-WISE-USE (1-877- 947-3873.)
