MILFORD, Conn. (AP) - An East Haven man accused of trying to have a co-worker assault his pregnant ex-girlfriend to make her lose her unborn baby has avoided prison time.
Twenty-two-year-old Jose Caporal was granted accelerated rehabilitation Tuesday. The program will allow Caporal to have his record cleared if he does not get arrested again for two years.
Police say Caporal allegedly asked the co-worker at Schick Corp. in Milford to break into his ex-girlfriend's house to assault her in a way that would cause her to lose the baby.
Police say the worker went to her boss about Caporal's request and a manager then went to police.
The prosecutor says none of the threats were ever carried through and he thinks the situation was blown out of proportion.
