Stuck Amtrak Bridge Traps Boats

EAST LYME, Conn. (AP) - Amtrak officials are trying to fix a railroad bridge in Connecticut that is stuck in the down position and has trapped commercial boats in Niantic Bay.
Amtrak spokesman Cliff Cole said Monday that it's not clear what's wrong with the Niantic River bridge or when it will be fixed. The problem was reported Sunday afternoon and caused a temporary delay to train service.
Cole says the bridge now has a 30 mph speed limit for trains, and no more delays are being reported.
The bridge also got stuck in the closed position in July and trapped several fishing boats.
Amtrak has plans to build a new $105 million bridge to replace the 102-year-old span.
