HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A former Plainfield teen who claims he is the victim of a racially motivated beating is appealing to Gov. M. Jodi Rell to help move the police investigation forward.
Seventeen-year-old Nashawn Williams brought a letter to Rell yesterday asking for her help to push the Plainfield Police Department's probe into the Oct. 16 incident.
Williams, who is black, was attacked at a bus stop by a group of white men.
A spokesman for the governor accepted the letter, promising to make sure the governor got the letter promptly.
Plainfield Police Chief Robert Hoffman says police are seeking an in-depth interview with Williams and his attorneys. Williams has been unable to identify any of his attackers.
Since the incident, the family has moved back to Norwich.
