East Hartford fire crews were called to the  scene of a rail car derailment near Tolland and School Streets Monday. Police say the School Street crossing is the nearest to the accident, and it remains open. The accident involves a diesel fuel spill, and police are asking pedestrians to stay away from the area while firefighters assess the situation. Trains operate at slow speed on the rails through the area.
