MONDAY- A win is a win is a win. Ok, no one really wants to hear that but for UConn fans, it's the way the season has turned. The seven point win over DePaul ended the three game winning streak and reaffirmed that the Huskies love Gampel Pavillion (should we call it "The Dog House".
As usual, the opponent jumped out to a quick lead and as usual, the Huskies came back. This time, they

UConn Associate Head Coach George Blaney, who has been filling in while Jim Calhoun is on a doctor-ordered medical leave, told his team that after three consecutive losses, he was starting to feel sick. He felt a little better Saturday after Connecticut snapped the three-game losing streak by beating DePaul 64-57.
Connecticut now stands alone at No. 1 in every way. UConn was the top choice in The Associated Press women's basketball poll for a record 37th straight week, surpassing Louisiana Tech (1980-82) for the longest streak atop the Top 25. The Huskies again were the unanimous choice as the top team.

_Jamine Peterson had 23 points to go with 14 rebounds, scoring eight of Providence's 14 straight points as the Friars took the lead and ran away from No. 19 Connecticut to win 81-66 on Wednesday night. Sharaud Curry scored 18, and Bilal Dixon had 11 points and 12 rebounds for Providenc. Kemba Walker and Gavin Edwards each scored 17 for UConn (13-7,
3-4). It was the Huskies' first loss under substitute coach George Blaney, who took over on Jan. 19 when Hall of Famer Jim Calhoun took a medical leave.

Jerome Dyson scored a career-high 32 points and Connecticut overcame a 10-point second-half deficit to upset top-ranked Texas 88-74 on Saturday. The win likely will put the Huskies back into the Top 25 after
they missed the poll for the first time in 36 weeks. It was theirsecond straight victory after three consecutive losses.
University of Connecticut Head Men's Basketball Coach Jim Calhoun is taking a medical leave of absence from his coaching position, effective immediately. The University made the announcement Tuesday afternoon, with quotes from Calhoun's physician, Dr. Peter Schulman, that his patient will be addressing what he called "temporary medical issues,. "

Connecticut got off to a near-perfect start, showing there is a chasm between it and the rest of women's basketball. Tina Charles scored 23 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to help the top-ranked Huskies rout No. 3 Notre Dame 70-46 on Saturday night for its 56th straight win.

`It's the most heartbreaking loss this year. It's not even close,'' said UConn coach Jim Calhoun, whose team lost by two points at Cincinnati and by three against Kentucky. After leading Georgetown 40-25 at halftime, the Huskies fell behind in the second half, to lose the Big East battle, 72-69.

Stanley Robinson scored 22 points and grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds to lead No. 10 Connecticut over Notre Dame 82-70 on Saturday, giving the Huskies their first Big East win of the season. Jerome Dyson added 20
points, 16 in the second half, and 10 assists for UConn (10-3, 1-1 Big East). Kemba Walker had 11 points
and 10 assists, only the second time in school history two players have reached double digits in assists in the same game.
The University of Connecticut today released the UConn Women's basketball schedule for 2009-2010. Once again, the games will be broadcast on WTIC NewsTalk 1080 and wtic.com
A familiar scenario for the UConn women, who remain No. 1 in the women for a record 38th straight week. The Huskies (23-0) routed West Virginia and Louisville this week. Connecticut has won 62 straight games, all by double digits.
