Vernon Investigations: 46 Pounds of Pot, Large Amount of Cocaine





Two separate investigations found a large amount of illegal drugs in the Rockville area of Vernon recently.  A total of eight people have been arrested, including three high school students.

Today, police went to two addresses in the Park West Apartments.  A resident of 12 Park West Drive, 21-year Ty-Juan Simmons, and a resident of 20 Park West Drive 45-year-old Raymond Walker were both arrested on drug dealing charges. 

Police say they might also be evicted, because they were selling the drugs in public housing.

Vernon Police said the investigation in the Park West Apartments led to searches at two other locations in Rockville.

Among the peopple arrested a three Rockville High School students, a 17-year-old charged to selling pot, as well as a 16-year-old and an 18-year-old charged with posessing pot, or drug paraphernalia.

In a separate investigation on Friday, authorities say they intercepted a large bale of marijuana being shipped to an address on Old Town Road, in Vernon.  Police say they replaced the contents of the package before it arrived.  They say they they saw Lance Roberts take the package, and put it into a vehicle operatined by Mark Wellington. 

Roberts is charged with attempt to posess more than a kilogram of marijuana with intent to sell.  Police say more arrests are expected

The East Central Narcotics Task Force was involved in both investigations.  The task force includes officers from Manchester, South Windsor, Glastonbury, and Vernon.
