The office of the state attorney general and the department of consumer protection release a list of the companies with the most customers or shareholders effected by the loss of data by a contractor for Bank of New York Mellon.
State officials say Connecticut residents who had their data lost should receive a letter from Bank of New York Mellon informing them that their data was lost.
The attorney general suggests that people who get one of these letters sing up for credit protection services offered by the bank.
