As the University of Connecticut seeks partners to affiliate with the UConn Health Center, the school says it has received four proposals. They include a joint proposal from Hartford Hospital and the Hospital of Central Connecticut, and proposals from Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, Connecticut Children's Medical Center and Bristol Hospital.
UConn President Michael Hogan says the amount of interest is gratifying, and shows the benefits of such a partnership to health care in the region, and to the state's ability to attract biomedical research funding and developing new partnerships with business and industry. He says even the discussions leading to the proposals have improved relations between the Health Center and other hospitals in the region.
Hogan says he'll begin reviewing the proposals immediately -- and will look for advice from a variety of sources -- including the UConn Board of Trustees, the Health Center Board of Directors, and Health Center leadership, faculty and staff.
