UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) _ Another former University of Connecticut star has signed to play with the WBNA's Connecticut Sun.
Svetlana Abrosimova, who helped lead UConn to a national title in 2000, signed a free agent contract Wednesday with first-place Connecticut (16-10). She joins former Huskies Barbara Turner, Asjha Jones, Tamika (Williams) Raymond, and Ketia Swanier on the Sun's roster.
To make room for Abrosimova, the Sun waived rookie guard Jolene Anderson, who played in 24 games this season and averaged four points.
Abrosimova averaged 10 points and over four rebounds per game in seven seasons with the Minnesota Lynx. She averaged over seven points during the Olympics, helping Russia to a bronze medal.
