Book Drive at Goodwin College’s Burnside Avenue campus. Goodwin College’s Early Childhood Education Department is sponsoring a book drive in honor of the Week of the Young Child from April 23 through April 27. Members of the community are encouraged to drop off new or carefully used books for a young child (up to age 8). Book boxes are located in the lobby of Goodwin College’s academic building at 745 Burnside Avenue in East Hartford. All books will be distributed to two “Reading is Fundamental” schools in the area. They feature 4 extra large stainless steel professional grooming tubs that will accommodate any breed from a tiny Chihuahua to a giant Saint Bernard. All tubs are waist height and have a walk up ramp for easy access. They provide the shampoo, brushes, aprons, towels, cool airdryer, clippers and grooming tables. And they even clean up the mess! Dog wash price is $15 with $5 being donated to Labs4rescue. They will also have a groomer available to do nail trims at $8 per dog.
