THE DONALD... AND FRIENDS
|
The Big East Coaches got it right. There was no more valuable offensive player in the league this season than Donald Brown and today, "The Donald" was named Big East Offensive Player of the Year.
His numbers are staggering, leading the nation in rushing. The way Brown has run this season is equally impressive. 9 games with 100 yards or more, his long TD runs, it was his year. Brown is also an intense competitor who absolutely hates to lose.
In just it's fifth year in the league, UConn has gotten its first major individual award winner. Quite an accomplishment to go along with three bowl games.
Cody Brown was a unanimous first team pick at defensive end while offensive tackle Will Beatty and cornerback Darius Butler were also first team picks. But's selection is impressive in the fact that he missed 3 of the 7 conference games after injuring his knee against West Virginia.
Scott Lutrus and Robert Vaughn were second team picks. I was hoping Scott would be picked for the first year but you can't deny spots to Defensive Player of the Year Scott Mc Killop, Morty Ivy and Tyrone McKenzie.
Congrats to all six players!
