STONY END
|
You have probably read by now that Jim Calhoun wasn't very happy with the Huskies defense against Stony Brook. No surprise there. The first game after exams is usually reminiscent of a tooth extraction and parts of the game against the Seawolves was no different... But I thought the last 15 minutes or so were pretty good for the Huskies.
But the opoosition gets much, much tougher starting Saturday in Seattle against Gonzaga. Then comes a Fairfield team that is red hot and the start of Big East play, led off by Georgetown. UConn NEEDS to play better, on both sides of the ball. The physical advantage they have enjoyed over the first nine opponents will either be negated or not so great from here on out...
But give the bigs, Adrien and Thabeet for dominating a much smaller Stony Brook team last night,. And it was good to see Stanley Robinson back. The more he plays, the better shape he will get himself into and the better shape he gets himself into, the better the Huskies will be.
We'll chat from Seattle.
