West Hartford Police have charged a 30-year-old local woman with abusing her two 15-year-old twin daughters.
Sandra Cedeno is charged with two counts each of risk of injury to a minor and second-degree assault. She was held on a $5,000 non-surety bond, scheduled for arraignment Wednesday.
On Tuesday, one of the alleged victims approached a counselor at Sedgewick Middle School, crying-- saying she did not want to talk without her twin sister present, police said.
Police say there were visible welts and bruises on the girls' arms at different levels of healing, and they stated that they had been hit with a stick by Cedeno. Following interviews of the two teens and their parents, by school officials and Department of Children and Families officials, police were notified, authorities said.
The two alleged victims were placed in temporary state custody. Two other children-- ages 16 and six-- were left in the Cedeno home, police said.
The investigation is ongoing.
