Greetngs from the snowy, slippery Pacific Northwest. Everyone, and I mean everyone, who made it out here had some sort of delay but as of 330 PST (630 where you are) on Friday, everyone was accounted for and present.
UConn practiced from 11-1 Pacific time @ Key Arena, former home to Ray Allen and the Seattle Super Sonics and still home to Sue Bird and the Seattle Storm. Former Seton Hall and Sonics coach P.J.Carlesimo was at practice, renewing friendships with Jim Calhoun and George Blaney, among others., Since being fired as head coach of the Oklahoma City Thunder (who are awful after P.J. was let go) Carlesimo has returned to Seattle where he has a home. He will be doing some radio color work in the future and I bet will be very, very good.
Gonzaga was late arriving, they had an awful storm in Spokane yesterday and were lucky to get their game with Texas Southern in. Coach Mark Few said he shoveled for SIX HOURS to get out of his driveway. Yikes!!
The roads in Seattle aren't much better after their huge weather event of the last couple of days. The best comparison would be that every 500 feet or so, you feel like you are driving on the ice surface at the XL Center. More bad weather is predicted for Saturday night/Sunday which could make getting out of town very, very interesting.
And if you saw a story in the news of a bus hanging over the side of I-5, that is about a block behind the hotel where Wayne, Gavin Keefe of the New London Day and I are staying. Fortunately, it appears that no one was injured. Scared yes, hurt no.
Broadcast time tomorrow 3:30 Eastern, we hope you are with us.
