VICTORY BY TKO

MORGANTOWN- UConn's 61-55 win over West Virginia was a good old fashioned Big East version of rock em-sock em robots.(one of the great toys ever invented). Both teams fought for 40 minutes and in the end, it was UConn that came out with the win.
Here are my three stars
1)- Stanley Robinson: I talked with Jim Calhoun on the pre game about the problems with encouraging Sticks to be more aggressive offensively. Well, if Stanley grabs 15 rebounds per game, there won't be any discussion of his reluctance to shoot. He was pheonominal AND he played just a few seconds shy of 40 minutes. A fabulous performance in only his second start of the season.
2)- Jeff Adrien: 14 second half points and for much of the second half, Jeff was the UConn offense, It was the type of performance you would accept from a fourth year senior and for UConn, the type of performance they need from Adrien every night.
3)- Kemba Walker: 10 points, 8 rebounds in his first real Big East game. He battled NYC high school rival Truck Bryant tooth and nail. Kemba admitted on the post game that he felt tired at times but he battled thru it and that is a great sign.
As for my little reprimand from Referee James Breeding for turning our monitor around so Jim Calhoun could see it, I knew the coach had been sick and I wanted to save him from walking a couple extra steps. I didn't know what I did was wrong, without checking the rule book, now apparantly I do know.So it won't happen again.
All in all, a great start to the Huskies three game road trip.
