THE REAL DEAL

UConn's first game without Jerome Dyson wasn't smooth, except for one regal man in the middle. The 62-54 win over Seton Hall featured lots of up and down moments but in the end, the better team won because it had the best player on the floor.
Hasheem Thabeet was simply magnificent, 25 points, 20 rebounds and at least nine blocks. Jim Calhoun thinks there might have been several more but we'll leave it at the official total. Hash stepped up more than any other Husky in the first full game with Dyson on the sidelines. It continued a string of recent games that has the opposing coaches praising him with the highest of compliments. His dominance of the middle has been Emeka-esque. It is the ultimate praise to have other coaches lavish such compliments on you. I wonder what the brainiacs who go to 2 or 3 games a year but yet have all the answers think now. There was sooooo much talk about what Thabeet could or couldn't do. If you don't think he has answered the doubters , you are not thinking straight. Is he great? Defensively, yes. And his offense continues to progress. He is still a work in progress but think for a minute what Hash was like in his freshman season......Amazing, right.
Monday presents another set of challenges. I'll give my thoughts on the Huskies and Panthers Monday afternoon.
Don't forget to join us on WTIC or WTIC.com for the broadcast starting at 6:30 . And you get a chance to talk about the game on Husky Talk immediately after the post game show.
