Truth be told, there is no music I love more than the Motown Sound. Four Tops, Temptations, Smokey Robinson, it is all terrific...
And there is nowhere I would rather be this weekend that Motown, AKA Detroit for the Final Four. Getting to go to the Crown Jewel of College Basketball is always special. I talked with my colleague from Villanova, Ryan Fannon who has attended Final Fours as a fan but not as a play by play broadcaster. To say he is excited is an understatement.
The Huskies are already in Detroit and are having their first interview sessions with the media this afternoon at Ford Field. The WTIC contingent won't arrive in Detroit until after those interviews take place and I will be curious to talk to my print brethren about the setup at Ford Field. It was great for football (2004 Motor City Bowl) but how it is for college basketball, only time will tell.
There are open practices and more interviews tomorrow. We will be there and I will host Sports Talk from Radio Row at the Cobo Center from 6:10 to 7. The inimitable Rayman will do his show from there on Saturday from 5:30 to 10 and then Bob Joyce (from St Louis) and I will host a special two city edition of SportsTalk from 10-noon. We will look back at the season on the "Road to Detroit" at 4:30 on Saturday, and then the pre game begins @ 5:30.
More all weekend long from Detroit!! Enjoy!!!
