School Employee Charged with Sex Assault, Risk of Injury

A Plainville man is under arrest, following a two-month investigation into his interactions with one or more school-age children with whom he was acquainted, Plainville Police said. Jonathan Zahra, 25, is charged with three counts of first-degree sexual assault, two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault, and seven counts of risk of injury to a minor, police said. He was arrested Friday morning.
Zahra is a technology specialist for the Plainville school district and has been on paid administrative leave since school officials learned of the investigation back in March, the New Britain Herald reported.
Police say the charges stem from incidents occurring from July 1 to September 30 of last year. There is also a related investigation being conducted by federal authorities, police said.
Zahra was held on $750,000 bond, due in Bristol Superior Court on Monday. The arrest warrant affidavit in the case has been sealed.
