Rell: Retirement Incentive A Success
|
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Gov. M. Jodi Rell says more state employees than expected are signing up for Connecticut's retirement incentive program.
She says 3,460 workers have already retired or will do so by July 1.
State officials originally estimated that 3,000 state employees would take the deal. It's part of an overall labor concession package negotiated between Rell and state employee union leaders earlier this year.
Some of Rell's top advisers are taking the offer, including Communications Director Christopher Cooper, Department of Correction Commissioner Theresa Lantz and Department of Revenue Services Commissioner Pamela Law.
Eligible employees can still apply for the program between now and June 30.
