Autopsy: South Windsor Stabbing A Suicide
|
An autopsy has determined that a South Windsor man on whom local police used a stun gun Saturday morning committed suicide, State Police said. The Medical Examiner's office has determined that Derrek Kairney, 36, of 51 Birch Road, died of a self-inflicted stab wound to the chest.
South Windsor Police were called to Kairney's home around 9:30 a.m. Saturday to find him armed with a knife, police said. Authorities say Kairney was ordered to drop the knife, but refused-- prompting an officer to use his Taser unit on him. Kairney was later pronounced dead at Manchester Memorial Hospital.
