Police: Nearly $17K Recovered in Bristol Bank Job
|
Farmington Police have lodged an evidence-tampering charge against one of two men allegedly involved in a Bristol bank robbery and a resulting police pursuit into Farmington which included shots fired at police on June 2. Richard Gordon, 34, was charged with the additional count during an appearance in Hartford Superior Court on related charges Tuesday, police said.
Gordon was a passenger in a van operated by Brendan McGarrett during the pursuit, police said. Both men are from Massachusetts. Gordon is accused of burying thousands of dollars from the robbery and other items in a heavily wooded area west of Reservoir Road in Farmington while attempting to evade capture. Detectives recovered a baseball cap, ski mask, sunglasses, gloves, license plates registered to McGarrett's van, and $10,882 in cash from the burial location, police said.
An additional $5,722 was recovered from the van and $140 was recovered from Gordon's person after he was found jogging along Route 6 in Farmington the night following the heist, police said.
All of the money reported stolen from the Webster Bank in Bristol has been recovered.
