STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) _ A police officer in Connecticut is under investigation for allegedly punching a Stamford woman in the forehead when he arrested her last week for driving without a license.
Stamford police say they haven't received a formal complaint against Officer Gregory Zach, but they began investigating anyway because the incident is serious. There's a picture of the woman with a large bump on her forehead that appeared in the media.
Police spokesman Lt. Sean Cooney says the woman, 40-year-old Brenda Mazariegos, punched Zach in the mouth and he had to use force against her.
The arrest happened last week in a parking lot behind a nightclub Mazariegos owns, shortly before a downtown concert. Police say there's surveillance video of the incident, but its quality is poor.
