The list of Connecticut Post Offices that might be closed for cost savings has now shrunk to thirteen.
Post Office spokesperson Maureen Marian says all of the locations still under consideration for shut-down are in or near large cities.
"In larger metropolitan areas, you have multiple opportunities to fold things together," Marian said. "In some of our smaller communities, where there is just a single post office, there is no ability to consolidate within that facility."
Hartford's Blue Hills and Old State House Stations could shut down, along with branches on Main Street in East Hartford and in West Hartford Center.
In the Bridgeport area, the Nobel Station, and the Barnum Station could be closed.
Greater New Haven's Trolley Square Branch, Kilby Station, Barybrook Station, Mount Carmel Carrier Annex, and Westville Station are all potentially on the chopping block.
The Stamford area's Glenbrook Station and West Avenue Station could also be shut down.
The post office had previously been considering as many as a 150 Connecticut locations for consolidation.
Final decisions have not been made on the remaining 13 locations under consideration for shut-down.
