B'port Diocese-State Ethics Panel End Hostilities

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Bridgeport says it will withdraw its federal lawsuit against the state's ethics office after learning it is no longer being investigated for possible lobbying violations.
The Office of State Ethics began a probe following a March 11th protest at the state Capitol attended by hundreds of people.   The agency said the Diocese failed to register as a lobbyist and in return, the Diocese sued.
Attorney General Richard Blumenthal informed the ethics office this week that its probe was likely unconstitutional, prompting the decision to drop the case.
