Troopers Charge 55 with DUI over Long Weekend

Connecticut State Police have released final traffic enforcement statistics from the long Fourth of July weekend. Troopers charged 55 people with driving under the influence from midnight Friday through Sunday night, police said.
During that same period, State Police responded to 174 accidents. None of the accidents involved fatalities.
In addition, police issued 2,405 infractions for speeding and other moving violations. Troopers also doled out 357 citations for seat belt violations.
The tallies do not include enforcement efforts and accidents handled by municipal police departments.
