Police Seize Half-Million in Heroin in Multi-Agency Investigation
|
Police say three people have been arrested in a narcotics and motor vehicle investigation which stretched from New Britain to New York City to Wethersfield, and which police say has the hallmarks of a large scale drug distribution operation.
New Britain police looking into suspected narcotics trafficking spotted a black Range Rover and a silver Dodge Nitro at a suspected drug trafficking location on Black Rock Avenue. Both vehicles were later seen leaving an area of New York City where police say there is a high level of drug traffic.
Police say agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration, Hartford police and members of the Mid-State Narcotics Task Force followed the vehicles north on Interstate 91, and when Wethersfield and Rocky Hill police stopped the vehicles in Wethersfield for motor vehicle violations and searched them, about 970 grams of heroin and two handguns were seized. Police put the street value of the drugs at half a million dollars. Later, when officers searched the original New Britain location, drug paraphernalia and cash were seized.
Wethersfield police say they arrested 31-year-old Michael Lopez of New Britain, 28-year-old Johnny Roldan of Hartford and 46-year old David Roque on a variety of drug, motor vehicle and conspiracy charges.
