HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ A 40-year-old female television reporter has filed an age and sex discrimination complaint against WTIC-TV and its parent, The Tribune Co.
Shelly Sindland, a 14-year veteran at Fox 61, filed a complaint Tuesday with the state's Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities. She claims she and other women over 40 at the station have been passed over for choice assignments, demoted and asked to take pay cuts, while the station promotes younger women and men.
News Director Bob Rockstroh said the station would have no comment.
In her complaint, Sindland says that station general manager Rich Graziano started a false rumor that he was the father of her 2-year-old child. Sindland also says she was recently told she had to take a $13,000 pay cut to stay at the station.
